The IPOKRaTES Students Team Munich is delighted to present our upcoming Emergency Medicine and Acute Care Surgery Bedside Teaching Seminar in October 2026! Join Edgar Rodas, MD (Virginia Commonwealth University) and Colleen Andrews, MD (University of Wisconsin) for one dedicated week of bedside teaching and interactive clinical cases at the LMU clinic alongside other highly motivated medical students.

Participants can expect daily patient examinations, case presentations and lectures from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In a small group of 20-25 students, the seminar offers an intensive dive into emergency medicine and acute care surgery. A key focus will be global health: how clinical decisions change with limited resources, delayed referrals or different postoperative pathways across health systems. With Dr. Rodas’ experience in mobile surgical care in remote areas of Ecuador and Dr. Andrews’ work in health-systems development and partnership-driven emergency care, students will explore creative, context-sensitive solutions and gain brief insights into key post-stabilization concepts.

Requirements:
• Proof of enrollment in an accredited medical school
• Working knowledge of English (seminar language)
• Working knowledge of German is recommended (patient interactions may be in German)
