Which is your desired specialty and why?

Pediatric surgery, because it combines the two particular fields I enjoy most in medicine – anatomy/embryology and working with kids. Also, the broad spectrum of this specialty is very attractive. I am very interested in congenital malformations, both from an embryological and a surgical point of view. Pediatric surgery as a specialty is also so desirable, because as a physician one is capable giving kids a second chance to grow up as normal as possible and to have a good life with a good quality

When did you enter the IPOKRaTES STUDENTS organization?

I attended my first IPOKRaTES seminar as a participant 2018 in Innsbruck, as the Pediatrics seminar with Cliff and Madan was held there back then. As an organizer, I started my commitment in 2019, after attending 4 seminars in total as a participant, when we organized the last in-person seminar in Innsbruck (Pediatrics with Cliff).

Why did you choose to enter the IPOKRaTES STUDENTS organizing team?

I firmly believe that IPOKRaTES is one of the greatest things medical students can engage in Austria and Germany. I simply love teaching in general, and at IPOKRaTES I meet so many soulmates in regard to this particular matter, that it was no question for me whether I should enter the organizing team or not. I just love it.

What makes IPOKRaTES STUDENTS so unique for you?

Honestly, it is the people what makes IPOKRaTES so special and unique for me. Everyone, both the students and the lecturers, is so dedicated and passionate about medicine, but also about teaching each other. I also enjoy the open-mindedness of the people and deeply appreciate and sincere friendships that resulted from mutual experiences with IPOKRaTES.

Which has been your best experience with IPOKRaTES STUDENTS so far?

Actually, what I always enjoyed most with IPOKRaTES were the moments when a bunch of exceptional students and an extraordinary lecturer discussed a case and got into the flow and somehow also into another sphere, bonding on an intellectual level, and everybody feels how special these moments are right in the time they are happening – alone thinking about that gives me goosebumps. When I would have to name one particular event what was my best experience with IPOKRaTES, I’d say the Internal Medicine Seminar with Steve and Hana 2019 in Cologne was the single best experience I had. I’d also say it was one of the best weeks in my entire life, I enjoyed every single moment of it.

My favorite extracuricular activities

I always enjoyed being part of the peer-teaching project “Paul Ehrlich Contest Innsbruck” a lot, both as a student and later as sort of a preceptor, and I really have a zest for teaching. Besides medical extracurricular activities, I love soccer (both watching it and playing it myself, and I am a big fan of Bayern Munich and FC Liverpool, reading, long walks in parks or to be in a museum or gallery.
